GARNET
Deep blood-red, like a pomegranate seed, Garnet is a crystal of passion, success and manifestation. Said to help overcome depression, give hope and courage, Garnet is a very useful crystal to have in a crisis. In situations where there seems to be no way out it brings courage and hope. So, if you are facing a tough time, Garnet is your ally.
The word Garnet actually comes from the latin word Garanatus which means 'seed like'. This connection to pomegranate seeds is why I think of Garnet as an Autumnal stone, a representation of the seeds that Persephone ate and so sealed her fate to descend into the underworld year after year. If you don't know the story of Persephone, Queen of the Underworld you can read it here. Because of this legend, Garnet is a symbol of separated love and represents hope of a quick return, so is sometimes given to a lover before embarking on a journey as a good luck charm.
A stimulator of the heart, this sensuous dark red crystal balances energy, bringing serenity or passion as appropriate and self-confidence when you need it. Often though of as a powerful protective stone, Garnet may guard you from night-phantoms (again, perfect for spooky season), ward off evil spirits and aid you in letting go of things which no longer serve you.
This Halloween the waters of the Poison Pond run red with a limited edition Garnet version launching in store and online eon the 30th October.
