It's International Pigeon Appreciation Day!
Here at Bonearrow, we think it's about time the pigeon was exalted back to its place as a sacred bird - cherished and beloved.So, we made it so. The Hallowed Pigeon collection launches June 29th at 8pm, but the charm is here now. We will be donating £10 from each one sold to a variety of pigeon rescues across the country.
The Myth: In ancient Greece, pigeons and doves were sacred to Aphrodite, goddess of love and to harm either bird was considered an act of profound disrespect to the gods. In early Christian iconography, the dove (indistinguishable in many depictions from a common pigeon) became the symbol of the Holy Spirit. War heroes, friends and messengers - why have we turned our back on these graceful, intelligent creatures.
The Magic: For the misfit, the underdog, and the one who has always felt just outside. The Hallowed Pigeon is for those who love the unloved and feel allied with the creatures that are misunderstood and unloved. We will be donating £10 from every sale to pigeon charities across the UK.
